Taney County Marriages
1885-1900

The Taney County courthouse burned twice during the Civil War, and again in December 1885, during the Bald Knobber Era.  Some couples chose to have their marriages re-entered in the records after this last fire, but most did not...therefore, unless there are Bible records or some family-held copy of the marriage license, official marriage records prior to Dec 1885 do not exist.  There is ongoing research into the WPA records on microfilm at the MO State Archives, which include church records--these may give us more information in the near future.
