Mills
Kissee Mill--probably originally established about 1831 by Wm. Febus, near the mouth of Beaver Creek.  Later  established about 2 1/2 miles above the mouth of Beaver by William Nelson, in the mid-1840s.  Sold to David Clapp prior to the Civil War.  Clapp, an ardent Confederate whose children had married into predominantly Southern families, sold the mill to Unionist Wm. Fenex about 1862, after being robbed and threatened with destruction.  Was the site of Union Camp Hawkins.  When the Civil War was over, it was the only mill still standing within a 50-mile radius.  Sold to Polk McHaffie and Clem Hollingsworth sometime in late 1871.  By 1895, A.C. Kissee owned and operated the mill and gave his family name to the town which had grown up around it.  Was in operation over 100 years and was owned by John Hires before the US Army Corps of Engineers acquired the property and razed the mill prior to the impounding of Bull Shoals Dam in 1950.

Linkenfelter.  Grist and lumber mill, cotton gin and wood lathe.  Flooded and rebuilt in the mid-1890s.  Hilda was established as post office at the site in 1896.  Mill was destroyed in the early 1930s by flooding, and never rebuilt.
